LES DEVELOPPEMENTS DES CREDITS DU SECTEUR BANCAIRE EN TURQUIE: LA PERIODE 2005-2015

The purpose of this study is to analyze developments of the banking sector credits mainly focusing on deposit banks, participation banks and development and investment banks. The data were provided by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK in Turkish) and Oxford Economics for the period 2005-2015. According to the results of the analysis, the increase in loans was faster than assets for the Turkish economy; the average annual credit growth was 28.78% while that of assets was 20.52%. For this period, in order to have an average annual growth of 4.31% of GDP, it must have an average annual growth of 20.52% in assets. From 2005 to 2015, deposit banks significantly dominated the banking sector in all respects to such an extent that their annual average share in the total bank loans was about 90%. All banks in sector have gradually increased the allocation of the medium and long term loans compared to the short term
