Toxic Leadership: A Conceptual Analysis

Toxic leadership is a dysfunctional type of leadership which intimidates employees to gain acceptance and personal earnings; constantly humiliates members of the organization with narcissistic tendencies and authoritarian attitudes; and causes physical and mental destruction by discouraging them. Accuracy and prevention of the determination of this type of leadership, which is quite common in organizations, are important for employees and the organization. Therefore, to deal effectively with toxic leaders and understand their behaviour, it is often important to analyse the leader's behaviour in context. This study focused on strengthening the stakeholders and organizational structures to identify, embrace and transform the dynamics of toxic leadership, and suggested some effective coping strategies. The study also examined the effects of toxicity on individuals and organizations. Thus, it was endeavored to encourage a positive social environment by raising employee awareness.
