Rapid development of technology and internet has changed the way people use internet. The use of the Internet as a source of health information has increased due to the ease andconvenience of accessing free information. With the increasing demand for up-to-date andreliable information on sensitive issues such as health, the reliability of information has startedto be questioned by people. The purpose of this research was to determine people’s medical andhealth information seeking behavior. In this context, the extent to which the problems encounteredwhile searching for medical and health information on the internet affect the search behavior andthe reliability of the found information was examined with the mediation analysis model.Thisresearch was conducted with 325 participants living in Istanbul using Online Medical and HealthInformation Seeking Behaviour questionnaire. The data was collected via face to face and online. As a result, “problem” and “attitude” were found as independent variables, and “reliability”as dependent variables. This research revealed that, independent variables have significantrelationships with each other as well as with dependent variable. Further more, independentvariable “problems” have an impact on “credibility” and independent variable “attitude” hasmediating role in the model.
