Optimization Activated Carbon from Hazelnut Shell and Cu+2 Adsorption from Aqueous Solution

In this study, fractional factorial design was used to prepare activated carbon from hazelnut shell.Particle size, impegnation ratio, temperature and time as parameters were chosen. The flexible simpleks methodwas used to determine optimum conditions. The optimum conditions were determined as impegnation ratio 0.792mL acid gshell-1, temperature 413.3 K and time 7.45 h. Adsorption capacity of activated carbonprepared at optimumconditions was found as 30 mg Cu+2 g activated carbon-1 at temperature 293 K, pH 5, concentration of Cu+2 250 mgL-1 and amount of activated carbon 3 g L-1. The effects of concentration of copper, adsorbent content, temperature, and solution pH on adsorption of Cu+2 have been investigated in the batch system. Langmuir and Freundlichisotherms ft the experimental data and both of isotherms were observed to be best represents the equilibrium data
