Propolis and areas of usage

Propolis is a natural product collected by honeybees from plants especially flowers and buds by mixing with waxand resin and used for many purposes in hive . Many scientific studies have demonstrated that propolis is used intreatment of various diseases in conventional medicine since ancient times and has biological activities such asantimicrobial, antioxidant, antitumor, anti- inflammatory and antiulcer. Propolis is a versatile compound whichcontains a wide variety of chemical substances, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant effects of the use by the bees inthe hive except for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food industry and apitherapy. In this study, some information isgiven about some properties and usage areas of propolis as well as its manufacture and marketing in Turkey.
