The Organizational and Environmental Determinants of Strategic Decision Speed and Firm Performance Relation: A Case Study in Manufacturing Industry

In last decades, throııgh the driving forces of the globalization and technological developments, the intensity of competition has increased and, business environment becomes turbulent and more dynamic. Firms have recognized that they should speed decision making and operating processes for the survival or growth in that competitive and dynamic business environment. Thus the issue of strategic decision making process and üs speed has captured the attention of not only business managers but also researchers. The survey of Bourgeous and Esinehardt (J988: 816-835) examining the relation behveen strategic decision making speed and high velocity environment is the pioneering study in that field. in this study we also tried to identify organizational and environmental characteristics related to strategic decision speed and examined the relationship among those characteristics, strategic decision making speed andfirm performance. Survey is conducted on 73 large-scale firms operating in manufacturing industry and data are analyzed thorough the SPSS 10.0 statistical packet program.
