Multiple tendons of the abductor pollicis longus muscle: Report of a case

Anatomi laboratuvarındaki el diseksiyonu çalışmalarında, 60 yaşındaki erkek kadavrada musculus abductor pollicis longus (APLM) 'ta çok sayıda varyasyona rastlandı. APLM normal bir başlangıç gösteriyordu. Kas distale doğru uzanırken bilek ekleminin hemen proximalinde laterale ve mediale olmak üzere iki karına ayrıldı. Medialdeki karın ilk olarak, I. metacarpal kemiğe tutunan ince bir tendon verdi. Daha sonra medial karından iki tendon daha ayrıldı. İki tendon da kendi özelliklerini koruyarak L metacarpal kemiğe yapıştılar. Lateral karın ise musculus brachioradialis'i çaprazladığı yerde tendon şeklinde devam etti. Bu tendon da, musculus opponens pollicis'in derininde kalacak şekilde, L metacarpal kemiğin tabanının radial tarafına yapıştı. Bu tür varyasyonun embryolojik gelişim esnasında oluştuğu düşünülmektedir. Bu tür varyasyonların cerrahi ve klinik yaklaşımlarda önemli olduğunu düşünüyoruz.

Çoklu tendonlu bir musculus abductor pollicis longun varyasyonu

During routine dissection of the hand, we observed multiple variations in the abductor pollicis longus muscle (APLM) of a 60 year old male cadaver. The muscle had a normal origin, ft was then separated in two bellies just proximal to the wrist laterally and medially. The medial belly firstly gave off a thin tendon which was attached to the first metacarpal bone. Then, it divided into two parts. They already had a muscular charasteristics prior to the insertion to the first metacarpal bone. The lateral belly ended in a tendon at the point crossing the brachioradialis muscle. It inserted into the radial side of the first metacarpal base, deep to the opponens pollicis muscle. Such a variation is considered to occur rarely during embryologie development. Therefore, it is important both in surgical and clinical situations.
