Bulbus oculiler 24 saat %10luk formaldehitsolüsyonunda tespit edildikten sonra, axis bulbi externus ve equator uzunlukları hassas kumpasyard ı m ı yla ölçüldü, a ğ ı rl ı kları belirlendi. The effects of various photoperiods on diameters and weight of bulbus oculi in chicks

This study was carried out to investigate the the effects of various photoperiods on development ofbulbus oculi in chicks. The study population was consisted of 144 broiler (ROS 308) chicks. Assoon as they hatched, the sex of chicks were determined. The chicks were divided into two groups:male and female. Then the chicks were assigned into two photoperiod groups. In this study, a totalof 288 eyeballs were examined. Eyeballs were fixed in buffered 10% formalin for 24 hours and thendiameters and weights of bulbus oculi were measured. It was determined that weights of eyeballsincreased by age and the eyes of the male chicks were heavier than the eyes of the female chicks. No significant effect (P>0.05) of photoperiods were observed on weights and diameters of bulbusoculi in chick groups.
