Effects of innovation activities on growth performance of business incubator’s firms

In this study, we analyze if innovative activities of newly founded firms in incubation centers make any positive effect on growth performance. The addition of incubation factor to the analysis give this study a specific novel angle in studies of innovation and firm growth performance. To investigate the factors affecting the growth performance of firms we performed face to face interviews with the firms located at 12 business incubators, İŞGEMs, around Turkey. The survey study covers almost all the firms which are still active in incubators, failed during the incubation period and graduated after incubation. In the empirical analysis part of the study, we estimate the effects of innovation activity on firm growth using Tobit Regressions. The regression results indicate that innovative activities positively increase the growth performance of newly founded firms in business incubators.
