Developments of knowledge intensive business services sector and its effect on economic growth

It seems that knowledge becomes a significant economic source in the production process of developed countries. At the same time, Knowledge Intensive Business Services (KIBS) sector, including the economic activities concerning with generation, storing and distribution of knowledge, is getting bigger and bigger. Thus developments of KIBS sector can be dealt with the basic dynamics of economic improvement in countries. From this point of view, our study aim to analyse the relationship between the development of KIBS sector and economic growth by running Panel Regression Method on annual data of 31 OECD countries between 2000 and 2010. Empirical results show that developments of KBIS sector acts a significant role in economic growth compared to other sub-sectors of services and manufacturing sector. Consequently, policies towards improvements of KIBS sector should be the basic components of growth strategy in today’s economy.
