Doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar ve istihdam arası ilişkiler: Gelişmekte olan ülkeler üzerine dinamik panel veri nedensellik analizleri (1991-2008)

Doğrudan yabancı yatırımların (DYY) istihdam üzerindeki olası etkileri hakkında literatürde bir görüş birliği oluşmamıştır. Yabancı yatırımların istihdam etkileri, yatırımın yapıldığı ülkenin gelişmişlik düzeyi ve ekonomik yapısı yanında DYY’ların miktarına, türüne, girdiği sektöre, geldiği ülkeye ve geliş amacına göre farklılaşabilir. Bu çalışma, doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımları ile istihdam arasındaki ilişkileri incelemektedir. Çalışmada gelişmekte olan 27 ülke için 1991-2008 dönemi dikkate alınarak dinamik panel nedensellik testlerine yer verilmiştir. Çalışmada yapılan dinamik panel nedensellik test sonuçlarına göre, kısa dönemde doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımlarından istihdama doğru tek yönlü nedensel bir ilişki olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuç olarak çalışmanın bu bulgusu, doğrudan yabancı yatırımların, kısa dönemde gelişmekte olan ülkelerdeki istihdamın önemli bir belirleyicisi olduğuna işaret etmektedir.

The relationships between foreign direct investments and employment: Dynamic panel data causality analysis on developing countries (1991-2008

There is no a consensus about the probable effects of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) on employment in the literature. Employment effects of FDI may change according to the development level and economic structure of host country as well as amount, type, sector, purpose and country origin of FDI. This article examines the relationship between foreign direct investment and employment. In the study, dynamic panel causality tests for 27 developing countries have been used setting the 1991-2008 periods as a basis. According to dynamic panel causality test results, a unidirectional casual relationship from foreign direct investments to employment has been observed in the short run. As a result this finding of the study indicates that FDI are an import determinant of employment in developing countries in the short run.
