Bölgesel gelir ve nüfus yakınsaması: Türkiye üzerine bir uygulama, 1965–2010

Bu çalışmada, il verileri dikkate alınarak bölge düzeyinde gelir ve nüfus yakınsaması birlikte araştırılmıştır. 1965–2010 dönemini kapsayan çalışmada gelirin ve nüfusun dönemler itibariyle gösterdiği yakınsama veya ıraksama eğilimleri yatay-kesit tahminler aracılığıyla test edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre iller arasında koşullu gelir yakınsaması söz konusu iken, nüfus açısından ele alınan tüm dönemler için koşulsuz bir ıraksama söz konusudur. Diğer bir deyişle, iller arasındaki kişi başına gelir farklılıkları azalma eğilimi sergilerken, nüfus belirli bölgelerde birikme eğilimi göstermektedir. Bu sonuç, önümüzdeki yıllarda büyük şehirlerdeki nüfus yoğunluğunun artmaya devam edeceğine işaret etmektedir.

Regional income and population convergence: An inquiry for Turkey, 1965–2010

In this study, income and population convergence have been examined by considering provincial data. Using cross-section estimates for the period 1965-2010, it has been tested income and population convergence thesis. According to results, it can be said that there is a conditional income convergence versus population divergence among provinces for all of the periods. In other words, difference in per capita income among provinces has propensity to decrease but population has propensity to agglomerate in the particular regions. This conclusion can be interpreted that population intensity in main cities will go increasing in the next years.
