Fen Bilgisi Öğretmen Adaylarının Mekanik Konularına Karşı Tutumlarının İncelenmesi

Problem Durumu: Tutum, eğitim alanyazınındaki en meşhur ve en çok araştırılan faktörlerden bir tanesidir. Fene karşı tutumla ilgili birçok çalışma olmasına rağmen özellikle fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının mekanik konularına karşı tutumlarını inceleyen çalışmalara halen ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır. Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, fen bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının mekanik konularına karşı tutumlarını, başta cinsiyet değişkeni ağırlıklı olmak üzere, çeşitli değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Yöntem: Pilot çalışma 2003 yılında 147 öğrenci ile yapılmıştır. Ölçme aracı olarak Taşlıdere’nin (2002) çalışmasından adapte edilen Mekanik Konuları Tutum Ölçeği (MKTÖ) kullanılmıştır. Ölçek, 5’li Likert tipi 24 olumlu maddeden oluşan bir tutum ölçeğidir. Öğrencilere her madde için olumsuzdan olumluya doğru 1 ile 5 arasında puan verilmiştir. MKTÖ puanı yüksek olan öğrencilerin mekanik konularına karşı tutumu olumlu, düşük olanların ise olumsuz demektir. Ana çalışma 2005 yılında yapılmıştır. 290 (%67 kız, %33 erkek) fen bilgisi öğretmen adayı çalışmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Pilot çalışma için alfa güvenirlik katsayısı .93, ana çalışma için .94 olarak bulunmuştur. Ayrıca 18 öğrenciyle (9 kız, 9 erkek) yarı yapılandırılmış kısa mülakatlar (yaklaşık 15 dakika) yapılmıştır. Tamamı teybe kaydedilmiştir. Bu amaçla 4 soru hazırlanmıştır. Öğrencilerin sorulara verdikleri cevaplara göre frekans değerleri üzerinden veri analizi yapılmıştır. Bulgular ve Tartışma: Sınıf düzeyi ve cinsiyet değişkenlerinin ana etkilerini ve ortak etkisini inceleyebilmek için 3x2 ANOVA yapılmıştır. Analysis of Preservice Science Teachers' Attitudes Toward Mechanics' Concepts

Background: Attitude is one of the most famous factor that has been widely re- searched in education literature. Although there are many studies in the litera- ture about attitudes toward science, there is still a need of a research study that specifically investigates Turkish preservice science teachers’ attitudes toward mechanics. Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between students’ attitudes toward mechanics and some various variables. Methods: Pilot study was conducted in 2003 with 147 students. Mechanics’ Con- cepts Attitude Scale (MCAS) was used as the only measuring tool. It was adapted from Taşlıdere (2002). This Likert type attitude scale was composed of 24 positive items with 5 interval scale. Each item was coded from 1 to 5 in increasing positive response. The higher score indicates higher positive attitudes. The sample of the main study conducted in 2005 was 290 (67% female and 33% male). And this sample chosen from the accessible population was a sample of convenience. Cronbach alpha was found .93 in the pilot study and .94 in the main study. Lastly, semistructured short interviews (about 15 minutes) were made with 18 students (9 girls, 9 boys). Four questions were used for this aim. All recorded data were analyzed by calculating the frequencies of students’ answers to the questions. Results and Discussion: 3x2 ANOVA was used to analyze the main effects of gender and class level and their interaction effect.
