Literature, Popular Culture and Society is an important work in terms of literary sociology. In this work, the effects of the development of mass media such as newspapers, magazines, radio and television until the twentieth century on the quality of the literary work and the changes in the artist's literary understanding caused by the change of the artist’s address with the emergence of publishing houses are discussed. When literature is seen as a commodity, it is natural for the literary work to be shaped according to the wishes of the society. The real question is to what extent will literature reflect society if it is to be accepted as a mere work of art? Another issue that Löwenthal emphasizes in his work is the effect of popular culture on the taste of society and the quality of the work.
