Marilyn McCord Adams’ın din felsefesinde korkunç kötülükler ve cehennem sorunu

Bu makalede, çağdaş din felsefecisi Marilyn McCord Adams tarafından ileri sürülen korkunç kötülük sorunu ve bu sorunun Hıristiyanlık’taki cehennem inancı ile ilişkisi konu edinilmektedir. Adams’a göre, insanı yaşamın bizatihi iyi bir şey olduğundan kuşkuya düşüren kötülükler olarak tanımlanan ‘korkunç kötülükler’ geleneksel öneriler ile çözüme kavuşturulamazlar. Onların çözümü için kimi dini gelenekler işin içine sokulmalı ve çözüm de dini temelde aranmalıdır. şte bu makalede, sorunun çözümüne ilişkin Adams’ın önerisi ele alınmakta ve bu önerinin doğal uzantısı olan evrenselci cehennem anlayışı üzerinde durulmaktadır.

The problem of horrendous evils and Hell in Marilyn McCord Adams's philosophy of religion

This article deals with the problem of horrendous evils that asserted by the contemporary philosophy of religion Marilyn McCord Adams and its relation with the doctrine of traditional hell in the Christianity. According to Adams, the problem of horrendous evils, defined as the human doubt that life is good, can’t be resolved by the traditional solutions. To solve the problem, this issue has to refer some religious traditions on the religious ground. In this article we examine Adams’s proposal for the solution of the problem of evil and investigate universalism as a natural extension of this proposal.
