Bu çalışmada, liberal anlayışın öngördüğü toplum tasarımının ve bu tasarımın temelinde yer alan piyasa sisteminin çelişkili doğası ele alınmakta ve piyasa sisteminin kendi kendisini yeniden üretmek için gereksindiği kurumsal yapı ile rasyonel "iktisadi" birey tipinin giderek bu yeniden üretimi zora sokacak eğilimleri yarattığı düşüncesi savunulmaktadır. Bu tasarımın "ütopyacı" niteliğini göstermek için, her toplum tasarımının çözmesi gereken üç temel sorunu, yani iktisadi nitelikteki kaynak dağılım sorunu, birey özgürlüğünün sağlanması sorunu ve toplumsal düzenin açıklanması sorunlarına sunduğu çözümler irdelenmekte ve liberal teorinin sunduğu bu çözümlerin gerçekleşmekten uzak oldukları vurgulanmaktadır.

This paper is an attempt at showing that the liberal view's understanding of the market society envisages a "utopia". It is argued that the functioning of the market on the basis of the behavior of the rational "economic" individual create institutional strains and contradictions which make the reproduction of this society a contradictory process. In order to show this, the paper considers the three important problems to which any social design must offer solutions; namely, the problem of resource allocation, the problem of freedom, and the problem of "order", and argues that this "utopia" cannot, without contradictions, solve them.
