Hipoglisemik yenidoğan bebeklerde insülin ve kortizol değerlerinin araştırılması

Amaç: Hipoglisemik miyadında uygun doğum ağırlıklı (mAGA), miyadında düşük doğum ağırlıklı (mSGA) ve preterm uygun doğum ağırlıklı (pAGA) bebeklerde insülin-kortizol düzeyleri ve hipoglisemiye yol açabilecek maternal ve yenidoğana bağlı faktörlerin sıklığını belirlemek. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya kan glukoz seviyesi 40 mg/dL (2.2 mmol/L)'nin altında tesbit edilen 46 hipoglisemik bebek alındı. Bebeklerden 26'sı mAGA (1. grup), 10'u mSGA (2. grup), 10'u pAGA (3. grup) idi. Ciddi hastalık ya da asidozu olan bebekler çalışmaya alınmadı. Bulgular: Gruplar arasında hipoglisemiye yol açabilecek anneye ve bebeğe bağlı faktörlerin dağılımında anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmadı. Insulin and cortisol levels in hypoglycemic newborn infants

Aim: To assess insulin and cortisol levels in term small for gestational age, term appropriate for gestational age and preterm appropriate for gestational age hypoglycemic babies and estimate fetal and maternal risk factors associated with the development of hypoglycemia. Material and Methods: Fourty-six hypoglycemic babies, who had serum glucose levels below 40 mg/dl (2.2 mmol/L) were included in the study. Twenty-six cases were appropriate for gestational age (group 1), ten cases were small for gestational age (group 2), ten cases were preterm (group 3). Infants with severe disease or acidosis were excluded. Results: There were no significant differences between the groups in the distribution of maternal and neonatal factors which could lead to hypoglycemia. Insulin levels were significantly different between group 1 and group 3 (p<0.01), cortisol levels were significantly different between group 2 and group 3 (p<0.05). Conclusion: Insulin and cortisol, response in newborn infants were strongly associated with prematurity.
