Pragnostic utility of quantitave diffusion-weighted MR images in reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome: Two case report
Diffusion-weighted (DW) MR imaging helps to differentiate vasogenic edema from cytotoxic edema and should be utilized for early diagnosis and follow up of children with suspected reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome (RPLS) in order to prevent progressive and irreversible neurologic deterioration with cerebral ischemia and infarction. We reported, DW imaging findings of two cases RLPS related to poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis. The findings of two cases were different, so diffusion weighted MR images are important on diagnosis and follow up, but they are not sufficient and must be supported with normal MRI.
