The effects of bupivacaine, fibrin glue and dexamethasone on post-tonsillectomy pain

Aim: The effects of bupivacaine, fibrin glue and dexamethazone on post-tonsillectomy pain is investigated. Methods: 52 boys and 48 girls, aged between 5 and 13 years are included to the study. In the evaluation of post-operative pain, VAS (Visual Analog Scala) is used. Patients are divided into 4; control, fibrin glue, bupivacaine and dexametazone groups. In the post-operative period, all the children take Asetaminophene, 30-50 mg/kg/day as an analgesic. Results: As a result, fibrin glue, bupivacaine ve dexamethazone are found to be effective in relieving post-tonsillectomy pain. None of them is more effective over the others. Conclusion: Fibrin glue bupivacaine and dexamethazone have similar effectiveness for postoperative analgesia in tonsillectomy operations.
