The Moral Foundations of International Justice

There is an extensive debate over the concept of justice at the domestic level in political philosophy. However, the concept of justice has recently morphed into a highly discussed research object at the international level. The main purpose of this article is to map out reasonable moral foundations for a theory of international justice by appraising the theories of international justice and the critics of these theories. After analytically examining the moral foundations of the theory of international justice such as national sovereignty, duty to help, and the harm principle, the study suggests that it is possible to construct a theory of international justice based on human rights and freedoms.
