MARK ROTHKO'NUN "SEAGRAM RESİMLERİ" 'NDE MEKÂNA YAYILAN SESSİZLİK

Mark Rothko'nun resimleri dış gerçekliği taklit etmez ve hiçbir öykü anlatmazken, içten dışa yayılan sessizlik, izleyiciyi resmin içine hapseder. Sanatçı hedeflediği bu ruhsal durumu özellikle New York'taki Seagram Binası için yaptığı resimlerde oluşturur. Ancak sergi mekânının da işin bir parçası olduğunu düşündüğü için resimleri Londra'daki Tate Gallery'ye verir. Çünkü insanların yemek yediği bir mekanda bu amacı gerçekleştirmesi mümkün değildir. Rothko'nun bu sessiz dil ile mekânı dönüştürmesi ve izleyiciyi bu yerleştirmeye dâhil etmesi çalışmanın ana konusudur. Buradaki amaç sözü edilen "sessizlik"i açıklamak, Rothko'nun bu sessiz dil ile temas ettiği noktaları ve mekân ile ilişkisini belirlemektir.

SPREADING SİLENCE TO SPACE IN "THE SEAGRAM MURALS" BY MARK ROTHKO

Although Mark Rothko's painting don't tell a story and reproduce to external reality, outwarding silence captures the viewer. This spiritual ambiance urged from the paintings are experienced especially in the painted murals for The Seagram Building in New York. Later he decided to give the murals to the Tate Gallery, London because he thought that the space also takes part in his works. The restaurant was not a suitable space for the spiritual ambiance. The main subject of this article is Rothko's transformation of space and inclusion of the viewer in the installation with silence. The aim in this article is explain Rothko's language of silence by determining the connection with space.
