[A BOTHROS FROM AIGAI]

During the excavations of bouleuterion in Aigai, a rock-cut bothros was unearthed under the orchestra. Great number potsherds were found in the bothros which was just under the filling of the building, and it is dated to an earlier period than bouleuterion. Just after the bothros completed its function, its surface was covered with soil then it has not been used again. The bouleuterion which was constructed above the bothros provided its protection without any destruction. The bothros in Aigai, including numerous type of pottery as a context, makes a significant contribution to chronology of those types of the pottery through its homogeneous feature
