Heyecan Arayışının Yaşam Doyumu ile Proaktif Kişilik Arasındaki İlişkide Baskıcı Etkisi

Bu araştırmada heyecan arayışının proaktif kişilik ile yaşam doyumu arasındaki ilişkide baskıcı etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma verileri 562 (392'si kadın, 156'sı erkek) üniversite öğrencisinden uygun örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Heyecan Arayışı Ölçeği, Proaktivite Ölçeği ve Yaşam Doyumu Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın hipotezlerini test etmek için korelasyon ve aşamalı regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Yapılan korelasyon analizi sonucunda yaşam doyumunun proaktif kişilik ile istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde ve pozitif yönde ilişkili olmasına rağmen heyecan arayışı ile ilişkili olmadığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca, proaktif kişiliğin heyecan arayışı ile istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde ve pozitif yönde ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Aşamalı regresyon analizinin ikinci aşamasında, korelasyon analizi sonucuna göre yaşam doyumu ile anlamlı düzeyde ilişkili olmayan heyecan arayışı değişkeninin eklenmesi proaktif kişiliğin yaşam doyumunu yordama gücünü artırdığı görülmüştür. Proaktif kişiliğin yaşam doyumunu yordama gücünün artması heyecan arayışının proaktif kişilik ile yaşam doyumu arasındaki ilişkide klasik baskıcı etkisinin olduğuna işaret etmektedir. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular literatür bağlamında tartışılmıştır.

Suppression Effect of Sensation Seeking in the relationship between the Proactivity Personality and Life Satisfaction

The aim of this study was to examine whether sensation seeking has a suppression effect in the relationship between proactive personality and life satisfaction. The Sensation Seeking Scale, Life Satisfaction Scale, and Proactive Personality Scale were administered to a sample of 562 students (156 males and 392 females) enrolled in Sakarya University. To examine the relationships between the variables, Pearson correlation coefficient was utilized. Regression analyses assessed whether sensation seeking suppresses the relationship between proactive personality and life satisfaction levels. The result of the correlation analyses demonstrated that life satisfaction correlated significantly and positively with proactive personality levels, whereas it did not correlate significantly with sensation seeking levels. Furthermore, proactive personality correlated significantly and positively with sensation seeking levels. Regression analyses showed that sensation seeking has suppression effect in the relationship between proactive personality and life satisfaction. Although sensation seeking is not related to life satisfaction, it suppresses irrelevant variance when it is added to the regression model.
