THE MEDIATING ROLE OF MORAL DISENGAGEMENT IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PERSON-ENVIRONMENT FIT AND TEAMWORK DYSFUNCTIONING

The interest in having moral standards, which is promoted as the differentiation strategy of businesses and what makes them to reach successful outcomes, requires the mutual commitment of employees and managers to the moral standards. The attitude of connivance and breach of moral standards disconcert the organization and weakens the feeling of trust among employees and thus is a determinant factor in success of some other practises in organizations. In trust intensive service organizations where ethical behaviour is gaining importance increasingly, the concept of moral disengagement is an important ingredient in preserving and sustaining the moral standards and it is intensively studied in the past few years. In this study, the direct and indirect effect of personenvironment fit on teamwork dysfunctioning and the mediating role of moral disengagement in this relationship are investigated. With this purpose, 178 employees in food and beverage operations in Kayseri were surveyed. As a result of analysis, the moral disengagement has played a mediating role in the relationship between person-environemnt fit and teamwork dysfunctioning.
