EFFICIENCY WAGE THEORY FRAMEWORK OF INVESTIGATION OF RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PRODUCTION AND REAL WAGES IN TURKEY: AN ECONOMETRIC ANALYSIS WITH SECTORS

The best way to understand real wage dynamics is through understanding the components of labour productivity. Changes in labour productivity are also important for monetary policy, as they affect inflation through the cost channel. Efficiency wage theory is an approach created by taking into account wage rigidities and imperfect competition. The aim of this study is to clarify the discussion on how it should be appropriate wage policy for Turkey. Therefore, in the study, the relationship between real wages and production has been examined within the framework of econometric analysis, taking into account the "Efficiency Wage Theory", which is a New Keynesian approach in terms of sectors. In this context, efficiency wage theories of how it works in Turkey's manufacturing industry, was investigated by looking at the relationship between wages and productivity. In the study, hourly real impact on the amount of increase in hourly production rates, Turkey's 2009: Q1-2020: Q3 period using data were analyzed separately for the overall economy and 13 sub-sectors. In this context, it has been decided that the overall increase production in Turkey increases in real wages and the Efficiency Wage Theory is valid for Turkey.
