Polycythemia erythrocytsis is a State characterizid by an elevated erythrocyte mass, hematocrit value and hemoglobin concentration. Polycythemia may be relative or absolute. Absolute polycythemia can be primary polycythemia rubra vera or secondary appropriate or inappropriate . Erythropoietin level is very important for differential diagnosis of polycythemia. Erythropoietin level is decreased in polycythemia vera and elevated in seconder erythrocytosis. Erythropoietin concentration is elevated in urine or plasma or either in patient with seconder polycythemia. In this review, it has been given some information about the classifıcation, diagnosis and treatment of polycythemia. It is aimed to give some Information that could heplful in detailed examination of suspected cases
