Na. K. Cl konsantrasyonları ölçüldü. Ayrıca Hkt değerden plasma volümü hesaplandı. Solüsyonların uygulanmasından sonra her iki grupta Hkt değer. Hb. serum TP. albumin.
Effectiveness of Crystalloid Lactated Ringer's and Colloid-Crystalloid Dextran+Lactated Ringer Solution for Rehydration in Calves with Diarrlıea
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of equal volumes of colloid+crystalloid solution 6% dextran-70 + Lactated Ringer's, D+LR versus isotonic crystalloid solution Lactated Ringer's, LR on some hematological and serum biochemical parameters in calves with diarrhoea. For this purpose. 40 calves with diarrhea aged between 3-60 days difterent breed and sex were used. The diarrhoeic calves were divided into equal groups as LRG and D+LRG. Lactated Ringer's solution was administered to group-LR calves intravenously at a dose of 30 ml/kg and in 20 ml/minute speed. Calves in the D+LR group received 6% dextran-70 plus lactated Ringer's preparcd at 1/1 ratio solution at the same route, dose, and speed. Blood samples were collected from both groups before administration of the Solutions - 1 , just after administration 0 and l t, 3,d and 6'h hours after administration. Parameters examined were hematocrit Hct value. and hemoglobin Hb . serum total protein TP , albumin. urea. creatinin. Na. K. and C1 concentrations. In addition. plasma volüme was calculated from changes in Hct value. After administration of the Solutions. Hct value. and Hb. serum TP, albumin. urea. creatinine and K concentrations decreased significantly in calves of the LR and D+LR groups and were significantly different between groups. When compared with group-LR calves. decreases in Hct value and Hb. serum TP. albumin and urea concentrations were greater and more sustained in group-D+LR calves. However. an whole improvement of hemoconcentration and prerenal azotemia was not observed. Although serum Na and C1 concentrations increased significantly in both groups in response to administration of the Solutions, the values of the parameters remained within normal ranges. Administration of D+LR solution induced greater and more persistent increase in plasma volüme than of those of LR solution. indicating more effective correction of hypovolemia with the combination treatment than with LR solution alone. It was concluded that intravenous administration of 6% dextran-70+lactated Ringer's solution was superior to conventional treatment by means of iv. administration of lactated Ringer's solution for rehydration of calves with diarrhea and can be used safely
