JOHANN SEBASTİAN BACH’IN İYİ TAMPERE EDİLMİŞ KLAVYE, I. KİTAP RE MAJÖR PRELÜD BWV 850’NİN ARMONİK ANALİZİ

A HARMONIC ANALYSIS OF THE PRELUDE IN D MAJOR FROM BOOK 1 OF THE WELL-TEMEPERED CLAVIER (BWV 850) BY JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACH

Baroque composer Johann Sebastian Bach is one of the most influential icons in Western Art Music. He profoundly impacted music through his use of the harmonic language as well as his special and systematic approach towards composition, which was ahead of his time. In this article, the Prelude in D Major from Book 1 of The Well-Tempered Clavier (BWV 850) has been studied in depth and in detail from a harmonic point of view. This prelude is arguably a challenging piece of music for pianists and harpsichordists in terms of long term memorization as well as achieving a persuasive, satisfactory interpretation. This article may prove useful for those interested in classical music and may also be of some educational value to those desirous of penetrating the harmonic language of J. S. Bach or the laws or principles governing tonal harmony in general.
