Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde Kilise-Devlet Ayrılığı Düşüncesinin Tarihî Kökleri ve Etkileri

Bu çalışmada, Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'ndeki "kilise ve devlet ayrılığı"nın tarihî ve fikrî temelleri incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Ülkede kalıcı ilk kolonilerin kurulduğu XVII. yüzyıldan, din ve devlet faaliyetleri arasındaki ilişkileri düzenleyen anayasa değişikliğinin (İlk Tadil) kabul edildiği 1791 yılına kadarki dönem, kilise ve devlet arasındaki ilişkiler bakımından değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Din olgusunun, kuruluşundan itibaren sosyal ve siyasal hayatta çok önemli bir role sahip olduğu Amerika'da, kilise ve devlet ayrılığı, ülkedeki dinî kompozisyondan etkilenerek formüle edilmiştir. Çoğulcu dinî yapı içerisindeki her mezhep, bu ayrılığı kendi din hürriyetinin garantisi olarak algılamıştır. Bunun sonucunda, muhtelif dinî grupların, üzerinde büyük ölçüde mutabık kaldıkları "ayrılık", ülkedeki dinî yapıları güçlendiren bir uygulama olmuştur.

Historical Roots and Effects of the Church-State Separation Thought in the United States

In this study the historical and philosophical base of "the separation of church and state" in the United States of America was analysed, evaluating the period from XVII th century when the first permanent colonies were founded in the country till the adoption of constitutional amendment (The First Amendment) in 1791 that regulates the relationship between religion and state action. In the United States, where religion has featured in social and political life from the founding, the separation of church and state has been formulated related to religious composition in the country. Every sect in this plüralist religious structure perceived the separation as the guarantee of its own religious freedom. As a result, the separation upon which diverse religious groups largely agreed has been a practice that enriches the religious structures in the country.
