Özet: Bu çalışmada Ahmet Hamdı Tanpınar'ın "Bir Yaz Gecesi" başlıklı öyküsü göstergebilimin sunduğu yöntem ve araçlarla çözümlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Önce, zaman ölçüt alınarak anlatıyı oluşturan, biri kapsayan diğerleri kapsanan (alt öyküler) olmak üzere, dört öykü saptanmış ve her biri kısaca özetlenmiştir. Betiler [figures] ve yerdeşlikler [isotopiesj /zaman/ /oyuncu/ [characters] ve /uzam/ [space] açısından incelendikten sonra anlatısal [narrative] düzey ve kahramanlar (eyleyenle ı~ actants) edinç [competence], edim [performancejve yaptırım [sanetion j aşamalarty la ele alınmıştır. Son olarak, derin yapılarda kadın erkek ilişkilerinde, insan bedenini ve duygularını ilgilendiren anlamsal yapılar bulunduğu ortaya konmuştur. Bu çözümlemede izlenim ve sezgilerle açıklanabilecek olguların metnin içinde, metnin öğeleriyle ortaya çıkarılmasına çalışılmıştır.

Abstract: İn this study, we attempted to analyze Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar's short story titled 'A Summer Night' by empyloying the ınethods and tools of senıotics. First, we have focused on the narrative time and identifıed four sııb-stories which constitute the whole narratioıı. Then these sub-stories were summarized briefly. After the figures and isotopies of the story had been analysed in terms of teıııporal, spatial relatioıı and characters of the story, the narrative mode and the actants of the story vvere stud'ıed through their competence, perfornıance, and sanetion levels. Finally, we observed that in the deep strueture of the story which deals with the man and woman relations there were semaııtic struetures related to the human body and emotions. İn this analysis, we showed that narrative world which can be explained via reader's impressions or judgments about it can also be explored by nıeans of textual features which exist in the text.
