Mustafa Sabri Efendi, Şeyhülislamlık görevini üstlenmiş, son yüzyılın önemli İslam âlimlerinden biridir. Oldukça çalkantılı bir hayat süren Mustafa Sabri Efendi’nin kader konusundaki görüleri dikkat çekicidir. Mustafa Sabri Efendi, kader mevzusunda önceleri Mâturîdî çizgiyi takip etmiş ancak özellikle Mısır’a yerleştikten sonra Eş’âr’î anlayışı benimsemiştir. Kader konusunda temel referansının Kur'ân olduğunun altını ısrarla çizmiş, görüşüne dayanak olarak gördüğü ayetleri büyük bir özgüvenle tefsir etmiştir. Ayetlere getirdiği yorumlarla bir yandan takip etmiş olduğu çizginin hakkâniyetini ispatlamaya çalışırken diğer taraftan ilgili ayetlerin Mâturîdî anlayışla tefsir edilmesinin hatalı olduğunu ortaya koymaya çalışmıştır. Bu çalışmada Mustafa Sabri Efendi’nin temel referans olarak gördüğü ayetlere dair yorumları, çeşitli tefsirler ve özellilke bu konuya hasredilmiş çalışmalar üzerinden mukayeseli bir bakış açısıyla tahlil edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Başta Muhammed Zâhid el-Kevserî ve Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır olmak üzere bazı isimlerin Mustafa Sabri Efendi’nin yorumları ile çatıştığı görülmüştür. Bu iki yaklaşımdan genel durumlar itibariyle Muhammed Zâhid el-Kevserî'nin yaklaşımının metodolojik açıdan daha isabetli olduğu görülmüştür.

Mustafa Sabri Efendi is one of the important Islamic scholars of the last century, who assumed the duty of Sheikhul Islam. The visions of Mustafa Sabri Efendi, who led a very turbulent life, about fate are remarkable. Mustafa Sabri Efendi initially followed the Maturidi line on the issue of destiny, but he adopted the Ash'ari understanding especially after settling in Egypt. He insistently underlined that his main reference on the subject of destiny is the Qur'an, and he interpreted the verses that he saw as the basis of his opinion with great confidence. While trying to prove the fairness of the line he followed with the interpretations he brought to the verses, on the other hand, he tried to show that the interpretation of the relevant verses with a Mâturîdî understanding is wrong. In this study, Mustafa Sabri Efendi's interpretations of the verses, which he sees as the main reference, have been tried to be analyzed from a comparative point of view through various commentaries and especially studies devoted to this subject. It has been seen that some names, especially Muhammed Zâhid el-Kevserî and Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır, conflict with Mustafa Sabri Efendi's comments. Among these two approaches, it has been seen that the approach of Muhammed Zâhid al-Kevserî is methodologically more accurate in terms of general situations.
