Abrasive wear behaviour of polyoxmethylene (POM) and POM based composites were studied experimantally using pin-on disc wear machine. Abrasive wear studies were conducted under the conditions of 4, 6, 8 and 10 N loads, 60, 120, 180 and 240 m sliding distances and 1 m/s sliding speed. Wear specimens were held against the 80, 220, 400, 800 and1200 grade silicon carbide (SiC) abrasive papers. Abrasive wear quantity and specific wear rate of all the composites were compared at different loads and sliding distances. In addition, POM+SW polymer composite was worn 2 times more than unfilled POM polymer with respect to sliding distance and load respectively. Worn surfaces of POM and other composites were observed by optic microscopy. The effect of silicon, vaks and glass fiber fillers on wear behaviour of POM was discussed.
