Koyun eti fiyatının asimetrik fiyat geçirgenliği ile analizi: Türkiye örneği

Türkiye'de koyun yetiştiriciliği; insan beslenmesi ile çeşitli tarıma dayalı sanayi dallarına hammadde sağlaması açısından önemli bir tarımsal faaliyettir. Kırmızı et ihtiyacının %18.06'sı ile koyun etinden karşılanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, koyun eti üretim fiyatı ile tüketim fiyatları arasında asimetrik fiyat geçirgenliğinin olup olmadığı incelenmiştir. Belirlenen amaca ulaşmak için 2004 Ocak - 2010 Eylül ayları arasındaki tüketici ve üretici fiyat verilerinden yararlanılmıştır. Asimetrik model çalışmasında Von Cramon Taubadel ve Loy (1999) önermiş olduğu Engel-Granger(1987)'in hata düzeltme modelinden oluşturdukları modelden yararlanılmıştır. Zaman içindeki oluşan yapısal kırılmaların fiyat geçirgenliği üzerindeki etkisini araştırmak amacıyla iki ayrı model kurulmuştur. Yapısal kırılmanın tespitinde, kırılma tarihini içsel olarak belirleyen Perron (1997) nin önermiş olduğu yapısal kırılmalı birim kök testlerinden Sabitte ve Eğimde Kırılmanın Testi (Model C) kullanılmıştır. Her iki modelde koyun üretimi bağımlı değişken olarak alınması neticesinde asimetrik fiyat geçirgenliğinin olduğu bulunmuştur. Koyun eti tüketimi bağımlı değişken olması durumunda sadece simetrik fiyat geçirgenliği tespit edilmiştir. Asimetrinin yönü arzın fiyattaki bir düşüşe gösterdiği tepki (-0,669), artışa gösterdiği tepkiden daha büyük (-0.461) olduğu yani negatif asimetri gösterdiği hesaplanmıştır. Bu da tüketici fiyatlarının üretici fiyatlarına doğru duyarsız olduğu anlamını ortaya çıkartmaktadır.

An analysis of mutton with asymmetric price transmission:_the case of Turkey

Sheep breeding in Turkey is important agricultural activity in terms of human nutrition. In addition, it provides raw material to various agro-industries. In Turkey 18.06 % of read meat demand is met by mutton. In this study, the existence of asymmetric price transmission between mutton and consumption is examined. For this purpose, consumer and producer prices covering monthly data between 2004 and 2010 is utilized. The error correction models of Granger (1987) proposed Von Cramon-Taubadel ve Loy (1999) is employed. Two different models were utilized to measure the impact of structural breaks on price transmission. The unit root test proposed by Perron (1997) that determines the break endogenously (Model C) is used in determining the structural break. In both models, asymmetric price transmission is determined. When mutton is dependent variable only symmetrical price transmission is determined. The negative asymmetry is determined such that supply response to decrease in price is higher (-0.669) than increase in price (-0.461). This indicates that consumer prices are insensitive to producer prices.
