Behavior or Process: How is an Environmental Education?

As environmental problems are rapidly increasing on a regional or global scale, the nations continue to seek solutions to these problems. At this point, the point of common consensus is that an effective and efficient environmental education is required. However, it is seen that there are different perceptions of environmental education about how environmental education is realized. In this research, environmental education in Turkey is examined in the context of behavior based and process based environmental education concepts. Behavior-based environmental education, which has been dominant in environmental education for many years, is aimed at the environmentally friendly behaviors of the individuals. In the non-behaviorbased approach to environmental education, researchers have argued that environmental education should be considered as a process of environmental education in order not to focus solely on behavior as an outcome
