Bu çalışmada, Atatürk döneminde (1923-1938) Bodrum’un nüfus yapısı konu edilmiş ve ayrıntılı bir şekilde ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmanın giriş kısmında, Bodrum’un tarihi durumu, nüfus dönüşümü ve Cumhuriyetin ilanından önceki nüfus yapısı hakkında kısaca bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde, 28 Ekim 1927’de yapılmış olan ilk genel nüfus sayımı sonuçlarına dayanılarak, ilk önce, Bodrum’un genel nüfusu ve cinsiyet itibariyle nüfusu hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Daha sonra sırasıyla; yaş grupları itibariyle, medenî hale göre, okur-yazarlık yönünden, doğum yerleri açısından, ekonomik faaliyet dalları itibariyle, anadile göre, sakatlıklar temel alınarak Bodrum’un nüfus yapısı hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiler sunulmuş, bazı değerlendirmeler yapılmış, bir takım sonuçlara varılmıştır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde ise, 20 Ekim 1935’te yapılan ikinci nüfus sayımı sonuçlarına dayanılarak, Bodrum’un nüfus yapısı hakkında bilgiler verilmiş, karşılaştırmalar yapılmış, bazı sonuçlara varılmıştır.

In this study, demographical structure of Bodrum in the Atatürk period (1923-1938) has been the subject matter and has been revealed in detail. Historical situation, populous changes and demographic structure of Bodrum before the proclamation of the republic have been mentioned briefly in the introduction section of the study. In the first part of the study, based on the results of the first general census, made in 28 September 1927, the general populous structure of Bodrum and its sexual proportion have been explained. Followingly, based on age groups, marital status, education level, place of birth, economical activities, main language and disabilities of the people, a detailed analysis of demograpic structure of Bodrum has been revealed, evaluated and arrived at a conclusion. In the second part of the study, based on the of the second general census, made in 20 September1935, the populous structure of Bodrum has been mentioned, some comparisons made, and arrived at some conclusions.
