Mesleki gelişim, her displinde olduğu gibi, son yıllarda İngilizce Öğretmenliği alanında da önemle üzerilen noktalardan biri olmuştur. Çalışmada, mesleki gelişimin ilgili literatürde tanımı verilerek ilgili konular hakkında okuyuculara detaylı bilgi verilmiştir. Çalışmanın son kısmında, mesleki gelişim süreciyle ilgili olarak Türkiye'de İngilizce öğretmenlerine yönelik atılabilecek birtakım adımlar hakkında öneriler sunulmuştur.

Professional development has recently been a popular issue in every field including the English language teaching profession. Essential to the issue of professional development is the premise that learning is an ongoing process. Technological developments, changing student needs, approaches and perspectives in the profession exert pressure on today's language teachers. In order for English language teachers to provide quality instruction to their students they should adopt an orientation toward continuing professional growth throughout their careers.
