Katı atıklar, ülkelerin en önemli çevre sorunlarından olup, her geçen gün önem. arzetmektedir. Denizlerin ve kıyıların katı atıklardan ne ölçüde kirlendiğini saptamak amacıyla değişik araştırmalar yürütülmekte ve uluslararası anlaşmalar yapılmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Homa lagünü littoral zonunda saptanan bir istasyonda Temmuz ve Ağustos 1998 ile Şubat 2000 tarihlerinde yapılan bir çalışmada, katık atıkların cins ve miktarları incelenmiş, alınması gereken önlemler belirtilmiştir.

Establishing of pollution formed by suspended wastes in Homa Lagoon littorale (the Bay of Izmir, Aegean Sea). The problem of solid wastes has become a big threat for the seas and coastal areas of countries. Recently, a research to determine the extent of sea and coastal pollution due to the solid wastes as well as their amount and composition has been conducted by others and the author.In this study, the amount and varieties of the solid wastes collected from the coastal line of Homa lagoon in 8 June 1998-26 August 1998 and 3 February 2000 have been determined and the necessary precautions were discussed.
