Sivrihisar'da ilköğretim öğrencileri arasında uyku bozukluğu ve yaşam kalitesi

Giriş: Uyku bozuklukları çocuklarda geçici ya da kalıcı sağlık sorunlarına neden olabildiği için önemli bir sağlık sorunudur. Bu çalışma, Sivrihisar ilçesindeki ilköğretim ikinci kısımda öğrenim görmekte olan öğrenciler arasında uyku bozukluğu sıklığının saptanması ve yaşam kaliteleriyle ilişkisinin değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma, Eskişehir ili Sivrihisar ilçesindeki ilköğretim okullarının ikinci kısmında öğrenim görmekte olan öğrenciler üzerinde gerçekleştirilen kesitsel tipte bir araştırmadır. Çalışmada ebeveynler tarafından doldurulan, “Pediatrik Uyku Ölçeği” ve “Genel Amaçlı Çocuk Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği (KINDL)” kullanılmıştır. Verilerin, analizleri için Ki-kare ve Student t testi kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar: Çalışma grubu 253’ü (%49,4) kız, 259’u (%50,6) erkek olmak üzere toplam 512 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Öğrencilerin yaşları 12-15 arasında değişmekte olup ortalama 13,16±0,64 yıl idi. Bu çalışmada uyku bozukluğu olan öğrenci sayısı 61 (%11,9) olarak saptanmıştır. Sleeping disorders and quality of life among secondary school children in Sivrihisar

Introduction: Sleeping disorders constitute an important health problem in children because of their tendency to create temporary or permanent health problems. The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence of sleeping disorders among the students of the second part of secondary schools in Sivrihisar district and to evaluate the association of these disorders with the quality of life. Material and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among secondary school students in the Sivrihisar district of Eskişehir province. “Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire” filled in by the parents was implemented to assess sleeping disorders and “KINDL QoL” to measure the quality of life. “Chi-square test” and “Student's t-test” were used for statistical analysis. Results: Of the 512 students, there were 259 (50.6%) males and 253 (49.4%) females aged 12 to 15 years (mean age: 13.16 ±0.64 years). In this study, the number of students with sleeping disorders was 61(11.9%). Sleeping disorders were observed more frequently in children with a history of adenoid vegetation, those with the anxiety of having sleeping disorders and those with a positive family history of sleeping disorders (for each one p<0.05). Children with sleeping disorders had significantly lower subscore in all domains of KINDL (for each domain p<0.05). Conclusion: This study has revealed that sleeping disorders create an important health problem in secondary school children and that children with sleeping disorders have a significantly lower quality of life.
