Breast milk oligosaccharides and their impact on health

Breast milk is rich with all nutrients necessary for healthy growth and development of new- borns. Oligosaccharides are components found richly in breast milk after lactose and fats. Positive contribution of oligosaccharides includes the following: Preventing pathogens and toxins to hang on mucosa as receptor analogue; prebiotic characteristics enhancing the growth of bifidogenic bacteria and thus preventing the multiplication of pathogens and effects that regulate the immune system. Given all these, the promotion of breastfeeding is vital for healthy communities. The article focuses on the impact of breast milk oligosaccharides on health.
