The aim of this paper is to examine the effects of demographic factors on international students' attitudes and behaviors, particularly on their self esteem. A brief web-based questionnaire was administered to 1199 students through a special edition of an electronic newsletter produced by the International Student Center of Colorado University. The overall response rate was 10%, or, 116 students. The results of the statistical analyses show that the students are not homogeneous within their socioeconomic background and in terms of their psychosocial characteristics.
