ADAPTATION OF THE EMPATHY SECTION SCALE FOR CHILDREN INTO TURKISH
Even though the concept of empathy is a quite accepted concept in positive psychology and contemporary life, the number of up-to-date Turkish measurement instruments which have sufficient psychometric properties to measure the empathy level of individuals is limited. In this study, Turkish Adaptation of the Empathy Section Scale for Children (ESSC) developed by Auyeung et al. (2009) and application of validity-reliability studies were aimed. As a result of the scale-validity-reliability studies consisting of 27 items in the original form, the Turkish form has been changed into 14 items. The Cronbach alpha value of Turkish form of ESSC (Empathy Section Scale for Children) was calculated as 0.73; it was found out that psychometric properties were valid and reliable.
