DE RE PUBLICA'DA DEVLET ADAMININ ERDEMİ VE SCIPIO'NUN DÜŞÜ

Cicero'nun İ.Ö. 54-51 yılları arasında kaleme aldığı De Re Publica (Devlet Üzerine) adlı eser genel olarak devlet tanımı ve modelleri, Roma devletinin tarihsel serüvenini, adalet olgusunun genel olarak ve Roma bağlamında devlet için içerdiği anlamı ele alır. Dahası, devlet adamının doğal ve ideal niteliğini inceler. Bu çalışmada eserde beliren ideal devlet adamı figürünün Cicero tarafından nasıl gerekçelendirildiği ve ona atfedilen erdemin karakteri, eserin sonunda bulunan Scipio'nun Düşü bölümü göz önünde tutularak değerlendirilmektedir.

STATESMAN'S VIRTUE AND SCIPIO'S DREAM IN DE RE PUBLICA

Cicero's De Re Publica (54-51 BC) deals with definition and models of state, history of Roman state and the justice's meaning for state in general and especially for Rome. Moreover it examines natural and ideal character of statesman. This paper tries to discuss how the figure of ideal statesman is reasoned by Cicero and examines the nature of character attributed to statesman, in aspect of Scipio's Dream, final part of that work.
