ARİSTOTELES'İN TİMAİOS OKUMASINDA UNSUR TARTIŞMASI

Aristoteles'in Platon okuması en az iki çeşittir. Bunlardan ilki; herkesin bildiği gibi, Platon'u çeşitli konularda eleştiren okumadır. Bu biçimle, hocasının düşüncesini aktardığı ikinci okuma biçimi arasına ayrım koymak yerinde olacaktır. Bu ayrım, özellikle bir fizik (physikê) tartışması olan fiziksel unsurlar meselesi söz konusu olduğunda, Aristoteles'in okumasını anlamak açısından önem arz eder. Aristoteles, Oluş ve Bozuluş Üzerine'de Platon'a göre, her şeyin kendisinden geldiği unsurların 3 çeşit olduğunu söyler. Bu başlı başına Platon'un Timaios'ta söylediklerine karşıt gözükse de Aristoteles'in Ruh Üzerine'deki tespiti Aristoteles'in Timaios okumasının işaretlerini sunar. Bu çalışmada Aristoteles'in Timaios okuması "unsur" konusu üzerinden tartışılacaktır.

DISCUSSION OF ELEMENTS IN ARISTOTLE'S TIMAEUS READING

There are at least two kinds of Aristotle's reading of Plato. The first one, as everybody knows, is the critical reading. The second kind of reading which covers the transmission of his master's thoughts, should be distinguished from the first. This distinction is important for understanding Aristotle's reading of Plato especially when physical elements are considered, which is a physics (physikê) discussion. Aristotle in On Generation and Corruption tells that for Plato, there are three types of elements from which everything comes. Although this seems to be in contrast to what Plato said in Timaios itself, a passage of On the Soul gives indications about Aristotle's reading of Timaios. In this work, Aristotle's Timaios reading will be discussed through the "element" topic.
