Esophageal Variceal Bleeding due to Splenic Artery Aneurysm in Pregnancy
Splenic artery aneurysms are the most common in visceral artery aneurysms. It can be seen in all age groups, although more frequent in the 5th and 6th decades. It is usually asymptomatic and is detected incidentally. Rarely it can be a cause of portal hypertension and esophageal variceal hemorrhage may be its first finding. It is more common in women. It is associated with portal hypertension pregnancy, atherosclerosis, DM, alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency, connective tissue diseases and hereditary vascular diseases. Our aim is to demonstrate that splenic artery aneurysm may cause complications such as life-threatening rupture, esophageal variceal hemorrhage in relation to portal hypertension during pregnancy.
