ELECTRON INTERACTION WITH METALLIC CLUSTERS

we re-analysized the inelastic cross sections of low energy electrons colliding withmetallic clusters. The analysis indicates that polarizability may take two forms in thelow electron energy region. The low-energy region follows the static polarizabilityexpression of Langevin. At higher energies, however, dynamical form comes intoplay. The full explanation of the obtained inelastic cross section seems to requireboth form of polarizability to be taken into account.
