SPORCULARDA KETOJENİK DİYETLER

Karbonhidrat alımını önemli ölçüde kısıtlayan bir diyet olan ketojenik diyete (KD) ilgi son zamanlarda oldukça artmıştır. Ketojenik diyet yağ kütlesi kaybını azalttığı için sporcular arasında da son zamanlarda popüler hale gelmiştir. Diyetin amacı, vücutta enerji kaynağı olarak yağları kullanması sonucu keton cisimlerinin ortaya çıkmasına yol açarak egzersiz performansı için yakıt kaynaklarının devamlılığını sağlamaktır. Ancak bu durum serum makro besin ögesi değerlerini değiştirerek kardiyovasküler hastalık risklerini artırabilir. Ayrıca kemik sağlığını olumsuz etkileyebilir. Bunların aksine, KD uygulayan sporcularda kas ağrısının gecikmesi, gastrointestinal şikayetlerin azalması gibi olumlu etkileri de bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, sporcularda ketojenik diyetin etkileri tartışılmıştır. Sporcular üzerinde KD ile ilgili yapılan çalışmalar yetersiz olduğundan bu konu hakkında daha fazla araştırma yapılmasına ihtiyaç vardır.
