Din Sosyolojisi Metot Arıyor: Mümtaz Turhan Ve Göstergebilimsel Analiz

Sosyolojinin metotlarını kullanan bir alt disiplin hüviyetindeki din sosyolojisi, Müslüman bireylerin toplumda neleri nasıl yaptığını, kurumsal yapılanmaların ve sosyal ilişkilerin nasıl geliştiğini inceleme soruları olarak ele almaktadır. Bugün nomotetik yaklaşımlardan ziyade ideografik eğilimleri takip eden çalışmalar, sıradan insana eğilerek bireyi, önce kendi toplumunun, sonra büyük T'li Toplumun içinde geliştirdiği tavırları bağlamlarında açıklamaya, daha net ifadeyle "anlamaya" uğraşmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın hedefi inceleme masasına yatırılan birimlerin katlarını açmak için, iletişim, görsel sanatlar, medya, reklamcılık, dilbilimi gibi alanlarda geniş açı sağlayan "göstergebiliminin", din sosyolojisi alanı içindeki yöntemsel imkânını tartışmaktır. Hipotetik olarak "göstergebilim din sosyolojisi disiplinine metodolojik açı sağlar" ve "Mümtaz Turhan'ın din sosyolojisine katkıları göstergebilimsel olarak yeniden okunabilir" şeklinde formüle edilen iki önerme sorgulanmaktadır. Bu çerçevede, çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, din sosyolojisi disiplini ile göstergebilimin yöntemsel olabilirliği tartışılacak; ardından Mümtaz Turhan'ın din sosyolojisine katkıları açımlanarak, alan çalışmasından elde ettiği verileri göstergebilim açısından tekrar yorumlanacaktır.

SOCIOLOGY OF RELIGION SEEKS FOR METHODS: MUMTAZ TURHAN AND SEMIOLOGY

The sociology of religion as a sub-discipline that uses the methods of sociology brings up questions of what and how Muslim individuals act in the society, and how institutional structures and social relations develop. Today, studies that follow ideological tendencies more than nomothetical approaches tend to explain -in other words to "understand"- the individual by focusing on the ordinary man from the perspective of his/her attitudes within their own society first, and then the Society with capital S. The aim of this study is to discuss the methodological possibilities of "semiology" providing a broad perspective on fields such as communication, visual arts, media, advertisement, linguistics, within the field of sociology of religion, in order to unfold the units that are analyzed on the examination desk. Hypothetically two propositions formulated as "semiology provides a methodological perspective to the discipline of sociology of religion", and "the contributions of Mümtaz Turhan to the sociology of religion can be re-read semiologically." In this framework, in the first part of the study, the possibility of sociology of religion with the methodological possibility of semiology is discussed; then, Mümtaz Turhan's contribution to the sociology of the religion are explored and the data obtained from the field study will be reinterpreted in terms of semiology.
