THE ECONOMIC APPROACH OF JOHN KENNETH GALBRAITH AND THE NEW INDUSTRIAL STATE

John Kenneth Galbraith (1908-2006) has come into prominence with his ideas criticizing mainstream economic thought and usually adopted an interdisciplinary even transdisciplinary approach. Galbraith, shown as one of the representatives of American Instutional economic thought today, has expressed his opinions in accordance with historical and institutional facts because Galbraith has considered economics as a science interested in changing and developing societies. The aim of this study is to make a general consideration of his criticisms on mainstream economics and to examine his analysis of the New Industrial State that he developed in the end of 1960s.
