Spin-Off Uyarlama Dizilerde Kişilik Bozukluğu ve Gotik Karakter İnşası :Wednesday Örneği

Personality Disorder and Gothic Character Construction in Spin-Off Adaptation Series: The Case of Wednesday

ABSTRACT Digital platforms, which are the application area of new media, are accepted as an important content medium for TV series film productions. In recent years, it is seen that content for virtual users has been emphasized in terms of the wide acceptance of TV series films. In this regard, it is understood that network platforms created according to the membership system with paid access services are trying to create a culture of appreciation especially for the young segment. In these platforms, where Generation Z constitutes the audience, the network society is shaped through main and supporting characters with qualitatively marginal characteristics and personality conflicts. In this study, the Netflix series Wednesday is among the top 10 most watched shows in the world. Wednesday has a postmodern pastiche depiction and a pathologically ironic relationship with the character comes to the fore. The identity relationship and psychological variability structures in social psychology definitions are examined in terms of various representations, heroic structures and sexist roles and communication styles in the eight episodes of the first season of the series by examining them at the level of expressions and analyzed by content analysis method in terms of numbers and percentages. In the eight episodes of Wednesday representing the first season of the series, in the first stage, a triadic qualification group was formed to classify the verbal expressions typologically through the main character Wednesday Addams. In the first season of Wednesday, 250 characterizations and imagery were identified as discourse, 79 characterizations of family and environment with a rate of 31.60%, 53 self-critical characterizations with a rate of 21.20%, 107 characterizations of other people with a rate of 42.80%, and the number of imagery that is a reflection of the ability to see imagery is 11, which is 4.40% of the general rate.
