Çiçek tozu seleksiyon yöntemi ile bitki ıslahı

Çiçek tozu seleksiyonu (pollen selection) veya (gametophytic selection), 1970'Ii yıllardan beri bitki ıslahında uygulanmaktadır. Bitki yaşamında, birincisi vegatatif devre (sporophytic phase) ve ikincisi generatif devre (gametophytic phase) olmak üzere iki temel devre bulunmaktadır. Her devrede uygulanan seleksiyon baskısı, canlının döllerinde farklı karakterlerin ortaya çıkabilmesine neden olabilmektedir. Çiçek tozları (pollens); genetik bilgileri jenerasyonlara iletmektedir. Seleksiyon baskısına uğramış çiçek tozlarından, baskıya dayanıklı olanlarla yapılan tozlama ve döllenmenin sağlanması ile seleksiyon faktörlerine dayanıklı veya tolerant nesiller elde edilebilmektedir.

Pollen selection method in plant breeding

Pollen selection (or gametophytic selection) has been applied in plant breeding since 1970's. Plant life cycle has two main phases that include the vegatative (sporophytic) and generative (gametophytic). Applying selection pressure at each phase, it can lead to obtain the desired character in the final phenotype. Pollens transmit the genetic information from one generation to another. For plant breeders, pollination and fertilization with pollens that exposed to selection factors, especially with determined resistant or tolerant among them, may be a valuable selection method of breeding for stress tolerance characteristics.
